Ecuador Welcome Forum: Presidential Election:

Anybody living in Ecuador currently have thoughts about the election? About political stability in Ecuador in general? My wife and I will be traveling to Cuenca in September for a month. I will be evaluating whether a year-long stay will work for us (working at my state-side job remotely.)

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Where to Stay in Cuenca?:

My wife and I will be spending a month in Cuenca from the middle of September to the middle of October. We don't know anything about the city. We are interested in the full city experience: We want to have a place with a kitchen, shop at the markets, do our own cooking, go out to restaurants, travel in the taxis and on the busses. I will be working at my programmer job remotely, so a good and reliable internet connection will be necessary. Are there better and worse areas of the city? I would hope that my wife would be able to walk down on the street, go get coffee by herself and not have any issues. Suggestions? thanks!

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Cuenca - Where to Stay?:

My wife and I will be coming to Cuenca September, 2017 for a month-long visit. We would like to live in a part of the city where we could 1. Walk to restaurants, 2. Walk to a bus, 3. Be safe 4. Not too noisy at night What are the neighborhoods that meet these criteria?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Walkable Cuenca:

My wife and I will be visiting Cuenca next year and would like to rent a place that is walkable. To us, walkable means we could go down to the street and have a couple of restaurant selections within a couple of blocks along with other types of stores and attractions (parks, etc.). Which area of Cuenca should we focus on?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: working From Ecuador:

If my company allows it, I would like to spend a year living in Cuenca and working for my US based company remotely. Which visa would I get? Is there any way to avoid the 'return to your home country every three months' thing??

Panama: Boquete Walkability:

My wife and I are thinking of relocating to Boquete. We would like to live somewhere that is walkable, For us this would mean our apartment or condo would be no more than a half a mile to restaurants, grocery shopping, pharmacy, etc. Is this possible in Boquete?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Culture in Cuenca:

My wife and I are thinking of moving to Cuenca. We like to go out and hear music - jazz, blues, rock and roll, sometimes classical. My wife likes to dance Salsa. Do these options exist in Cuenca?

Costa Rica: Music in Escazu:

I'm a guitarist and am thinking of moving to Costa Rica. Can anyone tell me about music in Escazu? Are there clubs? Jazz? Rock? Blues? Anything?

Guatemala: US Medicare use in Guatemala:

The short answer is that you (we) are out of luck. This is the reason my wife and I have cancelled our plans to retire to South America. Explanation from Medicare website. https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/travel-need-health-care-outside-us.html

Guatemala: Buses Between Antigua and GC:

What are the buses like between Antigua and Guatemala City? Are they safe? Better just to take a taxi?
