Panama: Multi city flights/layovers from Guatemala-Panama-Bolivia with COPA airlines:
we got competition on cheap flights with different airlines, vivacolombia, avianca is running a special if you buy from February 8th to 14th or something like that. there are hostels and cheap hotels in the city $50 w/ breakfast included. anyhow, you can stop in panama for more days if you need or want to. I would, better than being stuck in the airport eating expensive airport food. Cheap taxis or $0.25 buses or $0.35 metro fare, no need for anything fancy.
Panama: Help me understand:
yes, I think we are going thru a correction cycle, properties aren't selling b/c of fear of losing money. Greedy sellers want big bucks fro their properties. so they sit on it. there aren't any more suckers.
stuff hasn't been selling for 3 years we have heard from multiple realtors. once again, better to rent than to get stuck holding the hot potato.
Panama: Transporte Masivo De Panama - Mibus Fare:
yes white buses charge $0.25 & $1.25 for corredor, you can transfer to another bus within certain amount of time and not pay from what I understand. the diablos that still fill in the gaps that the white buses don't fill charge $0.50.
Panama: Getting to Tocumen:
from paitilla we have negotiated $23 for 2 people. From tocumen to paitilla we negotiated $20, you have to come out of tocumen airport, they don't let yellow taxis pick up people only drop off. when we came out just walked a little bit on the 2nd floor departures area (go up the escalator), some taxis turned around to pick us up after their drop off, you can take bus to tocumen fro $1.50 corredor in Albrook I assume, but for sure in Ave. Balboa in front of multicentro.
Panama: Cheaper prices than Skyscanner?:
i have used Travelocity and have gotten good deals on flights and packages. when I go individual sites to go to usa, they are expensive. Copa has been charging the extra fuel charge when the gasoline prices have dropped for so many years. AA used to be good, and my favorite but their prices haven't been competitive lately.
Panama: Poverty in Panama:
@jonoyakker, there is no geographical cure for people who are miserable, here, USA or Canada. Money is not everything, but it sure beats being poor and not having food to eat, a roof over your head, and being able to send your kids to school. Sending your kids to school is expensive, my maid borrows money every year to make ends meet and be able to buy all the crap, during Martinelli she told me they provided books, now during Varela they have to buy books, sometimes they are $25, and her making that a day is a lot of money to put 3 kids thru school! love and piece is found within you can't find that anywhere, Many times people have no purpose in life and that is when they volunteer and see that their lives are full of blessings. Sometimes we complaint too much about what we don't have and don't realize what we do have.
Panama: Getting around by bus:
all is true, in the post, having traveled, locally within the city, within the interior, or to the interior in public transport I can say all mentioned here is true. 4 years did this, then bought a car. there are major buses you can ride.
the little chivas are the smallest white buses that take you where the bigger buses won't take you, within a neighborhood or so.
the Coast buses are the white ones but are bigger, they stop in every fricking stop along the way, too long to get there, I have taken this to Coronado, 1 hr away can turn to 2 hrs with all the stops either to drop of pick up. then there is the big luxury buses equipped for long distance trips (Veraguas, Las Tablas etc) have tvs, cold, and better recliner seats. I have taken this to Coronado, more comfortable, and no stops along the way, many people don't know about this. This big buses don't like to make a million stops, but they don't mind doing a stop for you and drop you off in a major stop. They all take the panamerican hwy. also write down taxi phone numbers so you can continue to call your very own driver to come and get you at the door of your place.
Panama: Date line Panama:
lol yes we had a Walmart look-like-episode- probably leaned from them. lol sorry I had to throw that jab in there. ham were cheap and as usual the price is good, people lined up for government subsidized goodies. yes inflation is bad due to dollarized economy, November/December robberies are crazy because that is the way it is always in every part of the world, panama is not special.
Panama: Business Host Couple/person?:
we personally did the ropes, ourselves. we did the research. we hired this jackass woman realtor and she showed us the projects and real estate she wanted, not what we had seen online and wanted to see. this was years ago. I would personally do it myself and go at the pace of my own drum. but that tour thing might work for you if you are not a traveler.
Panama: Maid for beaches Coronado:
