China: Is Guilin actually Pretty?:

Guangxi province particularly Yangshuo is incredibly beautiful. It is quite reasonable in the off season, but Chinese Tourism has increased astronomically. Shenzhen is a very new, modern and relatively clean city, but a city is a city. If you want quiet and clean you must live outside the major urban areas.

I think rundowntheroad is correct. This is a common scan in China. Accept your losses (financially and emotionally) and move on. It was an expensive lesson but an important one. You are very unlikely to make this mistake again. I have worked in China for 12 years. Do not allow this one experience to change your opinion of all Chinese. Most of them are thoughtful, considerate individuals and make wonderful friends! However, like every other country in the world, some people will take advantage of you just because you are a good caring person. That's life. Now move on.

China: Doctor in Guangzhou:

Can anyone recommend a good physician in Guangzhou? I have been here four years and I am ready to give up on the Chinese medical community because of the language problem. I know there is a medical clinic/office at the Garden Hotel but they want an arm and a leg and those are two of the body parts I am trying to hang on to!
