United States: Moving to Chicago what do I need to know:

Hi, I have been made an offer of employment in Chicago and I now need to know everything before starting the negotiations over salary and relocation packages. I have a wife and a two year old daughter, I assume my wife won't be able to work. I also need to understand the school system, we currently pay £6000 per annum for nursery care, is there an equivelant? Finally which areas of Chicago are nice (the job is in Schaumberg) and what financial stuff do I need to consider?
