Canada: new born pasport:

Hi, once the baby is born, go to the city hall with any documentation from the hispotal and get the child registered. Once registered, request two copies of the birth certificate. With this, wherever you are, the Canadian Ambassy or consulate will issue a passport. If you are still in Canada after birth, apply for the passport, get it, then go back home.

India: non compete in India:

I am contemplating joining an Indian based company, and they are asking that I sign a 2 year non compete, that would restrict me for recruting other employees or clients. Has any expat out there have an experience with non compete in India? In the US, the law requires it to be limited in time and in geography, and in most companies, It is only for one year, and the non compete becomes obsolete when one is terminated. What is typical practice in India? This particular company has businesses all over Asia and the Middle East, and would not to "be prevented to make a living" (verbage from the US law) after them.

India: no foreigner in sight in the streets of Mumbai:

I was interviewing for a job in Mumbai last December, and one thing I noticed is that I did not see any foreigner browsing on the streets of Mumbai. The only time I saw foreigners are a couple of tourists at the gate of India. No one on the streets. I did asked the driver to take me not only where "foreigners" go but he also showed me where the locals live. Has any one experienced this?

India: Moving to Mumbai in May:

I am a US citizen, orginally from Africa. I may be moving to Mumbai as well. I am still negotiating with a local company. I was visiting Mumbai last December. I may take a job there. India will be new to me, certainly very diffrent than Africa and other developing countries. I am also learning. My potential employer will be renting an apartment for me. I might come for 3 years, shuffling between India and home. I am still learning. I have a friend originally from India who spent five years in Mumbai recently, and he has been helping me understnad the place. I would like to keep in touch, and perhaps see you guys in Mumbai. Where are you now? Are you in the US? Send me an e-mail to townley7211@aol.com, and we can correspond.
