Uruguay: Hearing Aids:

There is a shop on Calle Sanabria who has a big sign Audífonos... I do not know if maybe they can be of any assistance. If they can't help you maybe they can point you Int the right direction. Good luck!

Uruguay: with how much USA$ you can get inside UYU?:

As far as how much you can get? Assuming you are talking about money transfers from abroad then basically there's no limit as long as you have proof of providence. No questions asked tends to be 10.000 USD. If you are withdrawing a large sum the bank might ask stupid questions as where is the money going to? Makes you feel like the money is not yours to spend... The having to pay anything electronically or through bank transfers or with "Letra de cambio" because it's expensive law has been pushed up until January next year, you can still purchase and sell using cash until then.

Uruguay: Fraudulent pics of rental units:

Some sites like airbnb as an example offers you a chance to rate and review the apartments or houses after your stay, can be a good idea to read up on them as well before renting. It's a shame you feel cheated on your rental but why not ask for your money back and move out? You might want to remember that quality on construction here is of less quality than in a first world country, many houses are very cold and having your aircon running all day is the only way to keep warm and some humidity out, some houses are equipped with huge fireplaces but as soon as the fire dies, the cold comes creeping back again as there is no insulation and many places have thin and single windows. Many posts have been written about this on the forum.

Uruguay: maxbjorkstrom-fracy marcos chacra:

I will be in touch during the next couple of days, tomorrow I am going up there to visit some friends and I will gather a little bit more information as for now I only have a few blurry photos.

Uruguay: Searching a genuine and "honest" real estate agency:

A registered real estate agency are required to have a sticker in the window, orange/yellowish with " INMOBILIARIA" written in white, also has the "Uruguay Natural" logo and a smartphone or tablet scannable QPR code for you to get the real estate agency details. Also a plaque should be visible on the inside of their offices with their ID number that was given by "Ministerio de Turismo and Deporte". Good luck finding a rental that are up to your standard!

Uruguay: New vehicle payment options:

Hi there, Doubt anyone would accept a foreign check here. You could probably do a straight transfer from your account in the states to wherever you are buying your vehicle from. I do not know whether you can do this online with your bank or maybe through a phone call or maybe someone could do it for you from over there. You can use your passport as an ID to open the account with Brou but you also need some proof of where you live plus if you start transferring money from the US to your own account the central bank (pretty strict nowadays because of money laundering) may want to see bank statements or proof of where the money comes from. If you keep it below 10 k then normally they don't ask for anything. When you do come here you are allowed to bring 10 k in cash without having to declare it. Also credit cards can be used for everyday items, if it's a foreign card restaurant bills and grocery shopping or even rental cars will let you pay tax free. The tax is charged at the time but visa for example discounts the tax before you get the statement.

Uruguay: Small pick up truck suggestions:

The economy doesn't seem to get any better anytime soon, vehicle prices will likely go down even further, specially on used vehicles! http://m.elpais.com.uy/economia/noticias/comercio-preve-estancamiento-economico-temporada.html

Uruguay: limit with pullin cash from the atm problem:

Best and cheapest way is to set up an account and transfer that way. Usually arrived within 3 working days. I am now a days receiving transfers from overseas sometimes as quick as 24 hours. Transferring money from my Brou account to Europe still takes 3 days. Also if they are transfers from your own account to your own account over seas there are usually less of a problem and less checking by Brou. The other is to transfer to the account of someone you know and trust, this however is probably the least recommended option as " la viveza criolla " could leave you stranded with no money at all. Best of luck.

Uruguay: Warning to new arrivals to Uruguay:

Hola! Sharing personal experiences of what has happened might help future expats to not fall in the same trap as you once did. If someone has to your opinion done you wrong, please share for the well being of all. If it's someone who has charged for a service, they probably issued you with a bill as they are intended to. If they charged you and they haven't issued a bill for the service then they will most likely not take any further action as they aren't really allowed to work or charge for a service anyways. I don't know, just how I see things, maybe I am wrong. I hope it is like you said though, most are here to offer a helping hand without expecting anything in return.
