Jamaica: Living in Jamaica - how safe is it?:

Hello: Wea re relocating to Ocho Rios, my husband got a job about 30 km away. We have 1 year old baby and I am concerned about our safety and also about the weather. We owuld be living in a condo complex with security, but I will be on my own most of the time. Also, we were warned about cockroaches and geicos. Are they really everywhere? What about the hurricanes, how scary is it? And do they hit Northern coast at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, sionce we have to make decision any day now.... Thanks!
