Uruguay: Moving sale:

Hello expats, we are having to go back to the US for a little while(several months +) and have several like new and working well appliances and house hold items to sell. Things like a new fridge, washing machine, bed frames, playpen, high chair, table and chairs plus dishes, a shelving unit, all sorts of stuff. If anyone is wanting to purchase any of these or knows anyone who would please send them our way. We aren't trying to make our money back(we moved in the third week in January) we are just trying to get rid of stuff without being anymore broke than necessary. Thank you for your time! Gevo

Uruguay: Getting settled in Piriapolis:

Does anyone know the best places to purchase appliances and furnishings? Does Devoto deliver? refrigerator, stove, washer, beds, etc... We are going in tomorrow to make a deposit on a house in Piriapolis. I don't know much about the town(layout, stores, shopping, weekly markets) but it sure is beautiful! Does an expat group meet once a week like in Atlantida? I will search through previous posts to see what else I can find :) Thank you, Genevieve

Hello again, me and my endless questions.... In Atlantida, to set up utilities for an Apartment, can you do it all in Atlantida? Water, Gas, Electric and Antel? Is it anything like back in the States with deposits and monthly payments? Also does anyone know of places that might sell used or pre-owned appliances? I plan to look on MercadoLibre for this. Thank you :) We are looking at an Apartment tomorrow.

Uruguay: questions about renting:

Do you know what it means when a rental says "The rent is annual and calls Anda or Accounting" ? I know Annual is a year term lease but what does Anda and Accounting mean? Thank you for the help! We were just asked to leave out Bed and Breakfast because of our boys. We are being kicked out a week early! So now the hunt for a rental is more pressing.

Uruguay: Baby formula:

Does anyone know where one can buy baby formula? I have seen the liquid type but we are trying to find the powdered. It doesn't matter the brand. I cannot find it at any of the stores. Also, we went to Atlantida today and it is a beautiful town! I think we could live in a studio or 1 bedroom so we are know looking for an annual rental. We have 10 days to find one! Things are coming together slowly and we look forward to meeting you expats one of these days :) Genevieve

Uruguay: Job Searching in the Atlantida Area:

We are job searching in and around Atlantida. If anyone knows of a position or place hiring I would appreciate your suggestions and advice! We were going to try to find a teaching job(or jobs) but will try anywhere that may apply to us or might hire us. My husband has years or farm experience, resale, teaching at the University and College level, Medical Photography, carpentry, and other fields. I have been a barista, in-home aide/caregiver, book store clerk and have my associates in Art Education. We have applied at several schools but would like to continue to apply in case we are not hired to teach. Thank you all for your help, and for your past posts on this and other subjects. Genevieve

We made it to Montevideo! our family is looking for an affordable 2 bedroom near the coast. I am searching on Mercadolibre.com and buscandocasa.com but if anyone knows of anything please let me know. we are hopping to keep it under Uruguay Peso 12000. Thank you all, this is such a beautiful Country and we are so happy to have made it finally.

Uruguay: Hotels, short term rentals:

Hello again, We have purchased out tickets and will be in Uruguay January 1st! We are so excited and ready for this move. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for hotels near the airport? And hotels, short term rentals or even a homestay in Atlantida? We would like to stay in a temporary rental for a few weeks while we find a long term rental. We have a tight budget and don't require a 5 star stay. Affordability over comfort is fine with us. I know that it will be tourists season so we will have to work with that. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome! It will be a family of 4, the two children are 3 and 1. Thank you again, Gevo11
