Bahamas: Advice on bringing a car in through Miami:

I'm looking to bring my car into Nassau by shipping it through Miami. Fortunately, it is a hybrid so lower duty fees apply. At one point, I thought I read something about being able to temporarily import a personal vehicle and bypassing paying the duty, but I seem to have hit a brick wall when asking Customs about this. Does this possibility even exist? Also, I wanted to know if anyone would recommend a shipping company or have any other words of advice?
