Colombia: Hotel In Barranquilla Holidays:

I need a reasonable hotel in Barranquilla with a pool for December 22-January 6 mas o menos or apartment of the same for 2 people and maybe guests from my novia's family Any suggestions?

Colombia: Moving in May/early June to teach English:

I will put my two cents in this discussion. I have a Masters Degree in TESOL and was top in my class. I am a professor here in the USA but travel to Colombia and have a novia there. My hija takes language lessons at a top Engineering school that also teaches English. English is really a difficult language to learn well. I have not been impressed by the English schools in Barranquilla or Bogota. English is a subtle language and grammar is complex. Until I began teaching, I can honestly say that I didn't know English. We speak English intuitively and that is not the same as being able to teach the why of language .Just because you speak a language doesn't mean you can teach it. I have a good car mechanic but he cannot explain to me things in a way that I understand. Because you can do something does not mean that you can teach it. If you want to teach English, make it your passion and become a professional. Just because I can walk across a bridge everyday does not mean that I can teach you why the bridge stays up and how to build a new bridge.

Colombia: Apartment in Barranquilla:

I will be staying in Barranquilla for a month from June 20th to July 17th and need an apartment. Does anyone have any suggestions? A reasonable hotel would be ok also. you can contact me at SoDelft@aol.com I have been to Barranquilla a couple of times before. Thanks, Bill

Colombia: A month in Barranquilla:

Can anyone suggest a small inexpensive hotel in Barranquilla with a swimming pool for the month in June.I do not like the big glitzy American type hotels. This is my 3rd trip and I don't want to spend the time with my novia's parents. And a nice hotel on Providencia for about 3 days? Thanks, Bill

Colombia: How to find a teaching job:

I have a Master of Education degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of other Languages) and want to teach English preferably in Barranquilla but somewhere in Colombia for sure. Any ideas or contacts?

Peru: Health Insurance:

Can anyone tell me if Aetna Medical Insurance is accepted at the better clinicas or hospitals in Peru. I am going to marry a Peruvian woman and would like her be enrolled into my insurance policy untill she and her son moves here to the United States. She lives in Lima and presently has Pacifico Insurance but it would be cost effective to put both of them on my insurance. Thank you.
