Costa Rica: Dentists in San Jose:
I'm sure this subject has been discussed many times, but I really would like some recent information. I intend to fly down to SJO next week and visit four clinics: Prisma, Kriebel, Nova, and Americas. All have glowing recommendations, and as usual the very dissatisfied patient. Would you mind taking a moment and give me your rating of these clinics, from 1 to 5, five being the best. Any comments would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you very much.
Mexico: Dental work:
Good morning.
I am in Mexico City for vacation and decided I would consult with a dentist here about changing some gold crowns to porcelain. There may be more work, including implants.
Googling only produced a half dozen paid ads with few reviews. Ideal appears to be a good clinic based on twelve or so star ratings.
If you have a good dentist or know of a dentist you can recommend I would appreciate it very much.
Volaris flies all over Mexico so going to a clinic in another city would not be a problem.
Honduras: Residencial Plaza:
Does anyone have any experience with Residencial Plaza, in Tegucigalpa? An Encuentra24 ad lists a house for rent in this neighborhood for 9000 lempiras.
Nicaragua: Tola and Carretera 62:
Looking at google maps, it appears that the best (only) route to Tola is hwy 62 from Rivas. Is this correct? I will be driving from Jinotepe. Thanks. Also, about how long a drive is this?
Nicaragua: León - buying furniture:
Go to the market. Ask this question to anyone there: Donde venden muebles?
Nicaragua: Quickest letter to the U.S.:
I need to mail an urgent letter to the U.S. from Nicaragua. What would be the quickest way to do this? Thanks.
Nicaragua: Best Area to Move:
This ad from encuentra.24 is a pretty fair example of what you can expect.

The house has not been completed; and the size of the lot is "amplio", which means nothing. As you get closer to the coast, the prices skyrocket and the lot sizes shrink.
The U.S. Embassy website encourages due diligence when considering purchasing any property in Nicaragua. The experienced posters here are very helpful.
Nicaragua: checking out nicaragua:
Elduendegrande makes a good point regarding the church. In my experience, nearly ten years worth, Nicaraguans are the most fanatically religious people I have ever come across. It can be dangerous, ironically, to reveal to these christians a different view of the cosmos. When you greet a Nicaraguan with "How are you", invariably you will be answered with, "Bien, Gracias a Dios." They mean it quite literally.
Guatemala: exchange rate:
Hi, what's the current exchange rate for quetzal to U.S. dollars?
Nicaragua: Sport Fishing:
I've been fishing out of Casares with the same family for five years. Using rapala magnums we troll for whatever is in the water, usually catching big mackerel and Crevalle jack, but occasionally barracuda, rooster fish, white tuna, and (once) sail fish that follow the schools (cardumen, locally called manchas) of bait fish in shore. We go very early, just after day break, and are off the water by mid-morning. Lots of inexpensive fun.
