Belize: Relocation help:

Hello Kentgirl; I sent you a Private Message and would be happy to speak with you and to help you with some relocation needs. Feel free to contact me with the info that I sent in the private message.

Belize: White sandy beaches?:

Caye Cualker, Hopkins and Placencia - each very different and their own entities with various pros and cons to each place. Move around, explore Belize and you will get so much more than just sitting on a white sandy beach (and see many of those along the way as well). We have AWESOME white sandy beaches in North Carolina where I'm from BTW if you just want to chill out and have beach time, I would recommend those over any beach in BZ.

Belize: Help, Belizean surety info:

Caye Caulker Tip: don't ever even think about taking, buying, or using marijuana there. READ THE SIGNS (huge signs on the side of the building telling you what will happen) and TAKE IT SERIOUS. "when in Rome" - follow the other countries rules and stay out of trouble. Hope this is a good lesson for other North Americans. Glad it worked out for you and you're safe.

Belize: Those Posting Not Living In Belize:

From and American LIVING in Belize. Here's the deal for the people that have not been here: Belize is a third world country and living here requires a certain mental mindset, flexibility and adjustment - very simply. Some people can do that, some can't and many that can't or get tired of it become bitter about Belize, thus spreading their horror stories and doubt (there is poverty, there is crime - it is VERY DIFFERENT LIVING here versus coming on vacation for a few weeks, many newcomers don't understand that reality). BEST ADVICE FOR EVERYONE: Come see for yourself, explore the country, DRIVE Around, talk to people (expats and Belizeans, who BTW are some of the nicest, friendliest, most helpful people in the world - this coming from a person that's been in 35+ countries). BEFORE BUYING: Rent for 6 months in the place you THINK that you want to live and after that time, you will know whether it's your cup of tea or not (and save yourself tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars) in the process - I have seen many lose their life savings because they were chasing a dream and it didn't work out and they had to or chose to leave BZ. I always give the same first step of advice to everyone - "Come, explore, THEN decide"

Belize: places to buy in Belize:

JohnPBelize did it again - the EXACT RIGHT THING you should do. Come, explore, travel around and see what "fits". Just like you wouldn't ask "I'm moving to the US, where should I move?" - Belize is a small country, but is EXTREMELY DIVERSE, geographically, developmentally and culturally/ethnically. You have to "come, travel, explore" to find your fit.

Belize: Restaurant/Bar Mgr opportunity:

Looking for an experienced restaurant/Bar Manager that is looking to relocate to San Pedro (Ambergris Caye). US owners that have operated restaurant, bar, nightclub in the US are opening a restaurant and bar that will feature live entertainment and events. General Manager position starting Sept/Oct 2017 timeframe. Please send resume and references to bradreeder@mac.com

Belize: Fact Finding Mission:

If you want to find out about Corozal - contact KenUBelizeit If you need help in the Cayes or in Hopkins, contact me (I have lived at both and have friends in both areas). bradreeder@mac.com

Belize: Hopkins:

About Hopkins: email me directly and I will give you my VOIP phone here in Belize. We lived, there, ran a business and now live in San Pedro (Ambergris Caye). Happy to chat and answer your questions. Many on these message boards did not like Belize and just complain, complain (maybe they didn't know what it is or didn't research enough - maybe they are miserable WHEREVER they live). Experiences are different for different people and different mindsets - if you are open minded, willing to go with the flow and not expect it to be "american-lite", Belize can be a wonderful place. Again, I LIVED THERE - lived it, done it and will give you the real pros and cons. bradreeder@mac.com

Belize: Suggestions for exploration:

Here's what you need to do IF you really want to be fully informed and really see the majority of the places you might want to live. Would you say "I'm moving to America" and then just pick iIowa randomly or NYC (they are very different lifestyles, as are various places in Belize). 10 day: Day 1: Fly into BC - drive one hour out to around Belmopan and get a place there for 3 nights. Day 2: Drive to San Ignacio and surrounding area Day 3: Drive up to Orange Walk and Back Day 4: Drive to Hopkins / Sittee River and get a hotel for 3 nights Day 5: explore Hopkins / Sittee River Day 6: Explore Placencia Day 7: Drive back to BC, get water taxi to Cayes (Ambergris Caye - San Pedro) and a hotel for 3 nights Day 8: explore San Pedro Day 9: day-trip from San Pedro to Caulker (30 minute water taxi each way) Day 10: Back to BC OR fly from San Pedro to Corozal (spend the night there and fly back to SP the following day), then water taxi to BC on Day 11 That shows you the vast majority of the country and you will get an idea of what you DON'T WANT. Then plan trip # 2 to come back and spend at least 3 days in EACH of your top 3 picks. Trip 3 - come spend 2 - 4 weeks in your top choice This is the only smart way to not waste your money and figure out WHERE you can live and WHAT lifestyle choices you can adjust to. It's a journey, not a race when moving to another country - take your time, GO SLOW (as they say on Caulker) and SAVE YOURSELF A ton of money (I have seen DOZENS or marriages break up, dozens of life savings lost because people made hasty choices and didn't give themselves time).

Belize: Boomer couple from LA:

Seems like lots of hate here. I have live both on the mainland and in San Pedro (Ambergris Caye), and have traveled to all of Belize, It is a FRIENDLY, nice, easy-going place with many things to do and a variety of cultures and activities. Maybe some here havent traveled enough. I have been to more than 30 countries around the world. Is Belize America, NO (which is why makes it charming in my opinion). Is there a Home Depot, a McDonalds or a TGI Fridays - NOPE! Again, hurray for Belize on that - there are NO CHAIN STORES here at all. Do we have a Mall - NOPE! If you want to live like you do in America, the simple answer is LIVE IN AMERICA. Belize is a third world country, albeit with many (and increasingly more) first world amenities. I write this from my living room couch, using a wireless keypad while looking out over the water and feeling a nice tropical breeze blow through my house, so how bad is life, really? If you want the same lifestyle you have in the US, it wont happen. If you are an unhappy person most of the time in the US, you will be here (probably more so), but if you are open to a new adventure, a more care-free, laid back lifestyle and super-friendly people, then BZ might be the place for you. Tomorrow I will wake up, ride my golf cart into town for breakfast with some friends, get some fresh squeezed juice for $10 BZD ($5 USD a gallon) and then come home, work a few hours and then lunch and some time in the pool, Around 5:00 we will go to a wine social with some friends and see a dozen other friends there (hows that compare to a regular Thursday in the US?) - it's a TYPICAL Thursday for many people here, Life is what you make of it - and this is a great, friendly place to make it and enjoy (it is not for everyone, but definitely worth an exploratory trip to see if it might work for you). That is truly the only way you will ever know.
