Costa Rica: Playas Del Coco:

My husband and I will be visiting Coco in March 2017 and would like to know if there are any specific places where the older expats gather? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Costa Rica: Coco, Hermosa or Panama:

We have visited around the San Jose area and found traffic to be far too stressful so are looking at the Coco area. It appears traffic isn't nearly as bad in the northern areas, but we're wondering which of these areas is more forgiving of those who are still just learningl Spanish. Any tips?

Belize: viviun real estate??:

Matt, Viviun is not a realtor. They are a paid listing service for real estate agents and owners who are looking to sell their property/listings. It would be best to contact an agent in the area where you wish to buy. You can find them on the web if you search for "Corozal, Belize real estate for sale." There are quite a few, just depends on which area you want to be in. Also, look back through old forum posts for recommendations made to others. We purchased a lot in Consejo back in May and did not need a lawyer. Not sure what you're looking for, but a reputable RE agent can guide you. Good luck!

Belize: Travel:

When we went down in May, we flew into Belize City and got a transfer then rented a car locally in Corozal Town. It is a couple hours from Belize City to Corozal Town, but gives you a chance to see the countryside and villages along the way. Next time we go down we are going to try flying into Chetumal, Mexico which is only about half an hour to Corozal Town, but right now, flights in and out of Chetumal must all go through Mexico DF and are limited to only one or two a day. Many locals we spoke to there said they either fly into Chetumal and have someone pick them up or fly to Cancun and then take a bus to Corozal, but that ride can be 4 to 6 hours. As newbies, we found that flying into Belize City and getting the transfer was the easiest, less stressful way to go.

Belize: What do I need to move to Belize?:

We have also researched this and from what I read you can become a resident of another country, but if you renounce your US Citizenship, any benefits, SS, SSI, SSDI, Veterans, etc. are immediately discontinued, as are survivor benefits from those sources. Other than SS, there are requirements to maintaining your payments that require you to travel back to the US for a certain amount of time.

Belize: Looking for a Realtor:

Contact Tom or Karen at Corozal Belize Properties. Karen is an expert in the Corozal area. We just visited back in May and loved it! She is a wealth of knowledge and can help with all information you need. Here's their website: http://www.corozalbelizeproperties.com/Home.html
