Switzerland: Zürich:
My husband has been offered a position in Zürich but since we don't have a clue about life over there, we have a few questions.
1. what is the average salary for an Engineer
2. average life costs per person
3. fuel prices (gas, benzin)
4. insurance costs per person
5. apartmant renting costs (2.5-3.5 rooms)
Any other information that i might have failed to post would be of great help :))
Germany: German Visa advice needed..? please..!:
Oh Jim, I've been in your shoes... Obtaining German Aufenthaltserlaubnis is not easy at all. You have basicly 2 options:
1. Find a job and with your NZ pass, it shouldn't be a problem to obtain residency permit and work permit.
2. The other option is to merry the girl and since she is a German citizen, there are no problems for obtaining the Familienzusammenführung Aufenthaltserlaubnis.
I have a Sebian passport and my husband has a US. He's been working in Germany less than 5 years before we got married and based on that ground we were denied on visa by some clerk that didn't even bother to look closely in the Law under excuse: "Herr G. we have big problems with foreigners and especially with Muslims. Germany has to protect it self!". We had to fight with everything available and always emphasizing on the fact that we are CHRISTIAN... Our struggle lasted for a whole year before we finally got to be together here in Germany. But now we are looking to move to Switzerland :))
As for learning German, once you get your Visa you are obliged to attend 630 hours of Integrations course and make the final exam in it. I did mine 2 days ago (with huge success!). You have 2 years to do it, but my suggestion to you is to take the intensive course taht lasts only 6 months. True, you wobn't be able to work at that time because you'll have clases daily in mornings, but you get to learn the language faster. In just 7 months i started speaking German.
There is another option, which I think is stupid and more expencive. That is, if you don't need travelers vis, and I don't think you do, to cheat. Stay in Germany as long a s possible, than take trip to one of the countries that are not in EU, just to have stamp in your passport...
If you love the girl, marry her! My husband and I got married after 5 months and we couldn't be happier! :))
