India: Newbie to Delhi-A Few Questions:
1) Are there any playgroups that anyone knows of? I am traveling with five year old twins and would love for them to have other children to play with.
2) I would like to do some voice and accent and culture training while I'm there. Any suggestions on where to start or how to get my name out there?
3) How do you typically survive this extreme summer heat?
thanks...I can be reached via email at wisdomsonlychild@hotmail.com
India: Moving to India with an infant:
Hi,
I'm a mother of five year old twins and in a week I will be moving to Delhi with them for three months. 've been to India three times and In my opinion you shouldn't be worried about taking your child with you. After all, look at the millions of babies who have been raised just fine there.
As far as sanitation goes, yes you will see some filth but you can find filth in any country. Much of how the sanitation will impact your baby depends on you the mother. Extra precautions should be taken as far as making sure the water is properly filtered and that hands are properly washed. Also there are vaccinations that you should ensure your child has before traveling there. Malaria is a concern in some parts of the country.
The bottom line is this-you will do fine as long as you adequately prepare yourself before you leave. India is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful. You won't have any problems finding a pediatrician for your baby. Some of the top doctors in the world come from india so breath easy and enjoy your trip.
