Honduras: Activity:
I don't know where you are located, but my first stop would be the nearest Honduran Consulate. You should either go to there or call them and find out what the law is. They'll be more than happy to help you.
Good luck with it.
Honduras: Shipping:
I always use a company called "Rapido Cargo" in Miami. they deliver door to door and have good rates. I don't know from where you want to ship, but they do pick up in other locations. Their number is 305 631 0686. I have used them several times and always been happy. Good luck.

Honduras: Retire To Island Or Mainland?:
Hello Baloo,
Just a few thoughts on your move to Honduras. I have lived here for 25 years with no problems. I would recommend renting an apartment for a moth in any area you are considering. Just to get a feel for the place and the costs. There are a lot of people living in the La Cieba area on the coast (where the ferry leaves from for Roatan and Utilla). I live on the beach in Ciniquita which is very close to Omoa and Puerto Cortes.
Let me know if I can help you in any way. This can be a very nice place to live. Check out what is available for your medical needs. That can be important.

Honduras: Dirty Electricity:
Make sure to buy a power strip with surge protection. That should take care of any problems. I've been here over 25 years and have never had a problem. I always use a surge protector.
Honduras: Panga Search:
I am looking for a used Panga in the 25 to 30 foot range in the Puerto Cortes / Omoa area. Does anyone know of one for sale?
Honduras: Cargo transportation from honduras:
I would give "Rapido Cargo Inc. a call at 2552 1901 in SPS. They have done a good and reasonable job for me and if they don't go to France, they will know who does. Good Luck with it.
Honduras: Roatan Cost of Living:
I was just talking to a cousin of mine who built several houses on Roatan and remember him telling me he had to buy everything at Home Depot. Drywall, fans and other supplies. I am sure it all has to be imported from the mainland. I'll give him a call in the morning and pick his brain for you and get back to you tomorrow.

Honduras: email correction:
Just moved to Puerto Cortez from Comayagua and looking for others in the area. I have a small library of paperback books to loan or trade. wilmar20@yahoo.com
Honduras: Curious:
I ended up on the coast because I had a nice house here already. I also have a house in Comayagua that I use when I need to go to the US base there. I have no concerns about my safety in Honduras. It is safe here if you follow a few common sense rules that you need to follow anywhere else, such as Detroit or Washington, DC. Don't be a fool and you'll have no problems.
