Bulgaria: Doctor:
I am sorry to hear about your back problem. I also have a serious back condition and the best service I have found is at Tokuda Hospital in Sofia. They have specialist doctors who speak English and their MRI equipment is state of the art...unlike many rural hospitals that have old generation second hand equipment. Good luck. I have a question for you. My condition requires that I take morphine for pain, which is only available to cancer patients in Bulgaria. I usually go back to the USA twice a year to get my supply. Do you know someplace nearer, and cheaper, where I can get my medication? Thanks.
Bulgaria: Winters in Bulgaria:
We live between Yambol and Elhovo in the southeast which is about half an hour drive away from Turkey. My Bulgarian wife has told me that the winters here have changed since she was a child. She said that it used to snow quite a bit but I have been here for three years and we have not had much snow at all. It is cold enough that ice will form on your car windows in the morning if they are not in a garage. Our winters are usually relatively mild but they are sometimes gray and a bit wet. We get more rain in winter than we do in summer. We have only had two good rains in the last three or four months so we must irrigate our large garden...which is very easy and very cheap if you have property with a well.
I spent some time in Tryavna during February and we had some very deep snow on a couple of occasions.
Good luck.
Bulgaria: builders near Plovdiv:
I don't live live in the Plovdiv area but after several building adventures here I have come to the conclusion that anyone with a hammer will call himself a carpenter or builder.
We purchased a home built by an Englishman but the local workers used the very cheapest of materials and we have spent a fair amount of money on repairs and upgrades.
A word of caution...I have seen houses where the owners gave directions to the builder and then returned to the UK while construction occurred. You have to be there every day and watch every thing they do. You can not do it in absentia.
Good luck.
Bulgaria: Binging possessions to Bulgaria:
I recommend that you talk to the local customs officials before you make your move. As in my situation, sometimes they can be a little flexible depending on your personal situation.
Good luck.
Bulgaria: URGENT - CAR SALE:
Is your car still for sale? What is your asking price?
