Oman: American Citizen considering job in Oman:

Hello, I am considering a job offer in Oman - what would a reasonable salary be if I have two children who will attend school here, and the employer won't be covering any costs besides a salary - no furniture allowances, car allowances or even yearly tickets. They have asked me to name a figure. Also, I've heard Americans continue to pay US taxes on our income. So considering that please let me know what a good salary would be. Is there a large American community in Muscat? Many thanks.
