Hello - my wife and I are considering moving to Puerto Vallarta and are looking for some people to communicate with directly with various questions along the way. A little about ourselves: We are currently living in the Philadelphia suburbs. I will be telecommuting to my US job, and my wife (currently a respiratory therapist) is looking to work with a local PV scuba diving / tourism business. We are looking forward to embracing a lower-key lifestyle and meeting some like-minded, liberal, light-hearted (possibly cynical) people. Any takers? If so, what is the best way to contact you? Does anyone know what countries in Latin America offer the most favorable mortgage terms to US buyers? My wife and I are looking to move to Latin America and have found that most countries shy away from long term, fixed rate mortgages with relatively low down payments (10% or less). Does anyone know where I can find this kind of information? Google didn't turn up much in this regard! Thanks!

Mexico: cost of living in PDC:

My wife and I are planning on moving to PDC/Tulum in two years and I have a few initial questions for you all: 1) I have seen WIDELY varying estimates of monthly costs (rent, utilities, etc) - can someone tell me what I might spend on a monthly basis if I want a nice 2 bdrm/2 bath apartment very close to the ocean with a pool (with similar lifestyle)? 2) What do you all do in the event of a hurricane - is there a safe place to go to? 3) I would be in need of VERY reliable, and fast, internet access.
