Costa Rica: dreams of CR life:
Hi everyone!
I'm currently in Denver, Colorado but looking to move to warmer climate :) I currently have a nice little urban homestead with chickens, ducks, turkeys, quail, bees and many gardens.
I have a fantasy (being realistic here!) Of moving to CR and buying a chocolate /coffee farm.
To show how little I know, where does chocolate and coffee grow in the cr mountains?
Ideally I am looking for something off the grid with solar power etc.
Can I bring my fancy rare breed chickens with me? Better to buy a 4wd vehicle there or here and bring it?
I would also like to get cows and goats, horses :) in CR.
My husband and I own several properties here. We will be renting them out and possibly selling one or 2 to fund this new venture.
We are still youngish in our early 40's and looking to quasi retire where it doesn't snow.
I personally was wanting to be on the Caribbean side of CR, but where ever is best for us to grow food /coffee/chocolate is what we desire.
I'm going to Uruguay in November and Costa Rica in January as we check out other countries to move to.
Thank you for any help!
Uruguay: Howdy & newbie questions:
We're close to you down in Colorado and are looking to move also to have a nice little farm. We're straight, but most of my good friends are gay. My best friends are planning on joining us and are a gay couple. We hope for a smooth move also to more tolerant climates :)
Uruguay: Availability of Arthritis drugs:
What about hydrocodone? I take it here in the ysa and am trying to figure out how to manafe ny pain when we get to Uruguay.
Uruguay: Gender gap in Uruguay:
So.. don't stay here by myself if my bf goes back to the usa if I want to buy property, rent or start our life here?
It's looking like I will have to be the one to stay behind in Uruguay to set up our new life with trips back to the usa every 5 months until we get set up. Bad idea?
I should bring a gay male friend with me to stay? ;)
Uruguay: New immigration rules:
What if we only want to buy property in Uruguay and set up residency and keep us citizenship?
Uruguay: off grid sustainable living?:
Hi all!
My bf and I currently live in Colorado, but are wanting to move to punta del diablo Uruguay next year (2016) .
We own our own home here in the us and will be renting it out, along with our other rental property we're buying our rental income will be around 2k a month.
We want to buy land there in pdd and build our own home.
My first thought is to buy 3x 28' long shipping containers here and fill them with all that we need to set up, but then I read no seeds, foods, candles, chemicals, yurt or lumber?
What can we bring?
What do we need to bring to build our home or what are orices on such things there?
What about animals? Say chickens, ducks, goats, cows? Are they easily obtained in pdd?
I currently stay at home and dritter tend ** 80+ birds, beehives, rabbits, kittens, dogs and huge extensive indoor and outdoor gardens as well as mmj.
We are in our early 40's. Very handy mechanically and with animals and plants. My bf is capable ofbuilding our own home, but we need to know what CAN we bring?
I have a friend that lives in pdd and I can mail things slowly to her.. but i would love to be able to pack up a few containers and my most beloved animals and best of my seed genetics to set ip our sustainable homestead.
Uruguay: Uruguay Does Unthinkable, Rejects Global Corporatocracy:
We have a gold dredge.. is there gold in Uruguay to be mined?
Uruguay: Food and health in Uruguay:
How much does the average dairy cow sell for? I definitely want 1-2 cows in milk along with a few goats.
How much is chicken feed?
Can I get coffee beans there? I need to bring my own sea salt with me? Like a 50 lb sack? :)
