Italy: Budgeting for trip:

Hi Friends, I've been working on a plan to move to Italy for 3 months beginning in Feb. or March and I need a little help with budgeting for the trip. (If you read my previous posts I've had to change my initial plans a bit.) I'm going to rent a 1 bedroom apartment near the center of Bologna at least for 1 month. (I hope to live in 3 different places during my 3 month stay.) I'm thinking I can keep the rent around 1200 Euros a month. I plan to cook some of my meals, eat out as often as possible (lots of gelato!), and take weekend sightseeing trips to cities nearby. Do you have any advice on how much I should budget for eating out and sightseeing a couple of times a week? Do you have an idea of how much it might cost for me to live one month in Italy? Any advice on budgeting for my trip would be GREATLY appreciated!! Best Regards, Red Jeans

Italy: Contratti transitorio:

Velvet, I have the same concerns about renting an apartment. My boyfriend and I would like to live in Bologna for 6 months. I've looked at soooo many apartments but I'm hesitant to choose one from so far away. How do I get a lease agreement before I pay the deposit and requested fees? Then, will there really be a kitchen when I get there? I hear so many strange stories. How many other fees will I have to pay that I don't know about? It's scary. I wish I could scout out the places first but I have to have a 6 month lease before my visa will be approved. Any relatives out there? Thanks to all of you who share your stories and suggestions to us newbies! It's invaluable.

Oh gosh! How exciting! Your post gives me hope that I can get there too! I've been working on moving for 5 months and you've been hoping and planning for over 15 years! Wow! Obviously, it's been a life long dream for you. Your message reminds me to patient but to keep working towards the dream even when it seems impossible. Thanks you for the post!
