Vietnam: Long term visas:
Here's my experience. I'm from the US and I live in Hanoi. I entered vietnam 3 months ago with a 3 month visa. Last week i left the coubtry and returned in order to obtain a new vise. This time the new one-year visa was available. So i got that.
Vietnam: Hanoi:
I just moved to Hanoi from the Seattle area three weeks ago. My research tells me that you should look at Da Lat if climate is your main driver. The temps year round are similar to a nice Seattle summer day. I chose Hanoi because I want to work and my prospects here are supposed to be better. Summer will be too hot for me, But the past three weeks of late winter have been very pleasant - just a bit warmer than W. Washington and a lot less wet!
Vietnam: Groceries in Hanoi:
Is there a store in Hanoi where I can buy American style groceries? I'm looking for things like eggs, bacon, potatoes, ground beef, peanut butter, jam, cereal, and milk.
Thanks
Vietnam: Motorbike insurance:
Is it possible for an Expat to get insurance for theft or damage to a motorbike? My interest today is for a rental but I might buy one in the future. Also, would I need a driver license to get insurance?
Thanks
Vietnam: Health:
Is there good mosquito repellent in Vietnam? Or should I bring it with me? I'm moving to Vietnam in a week.
Thanks
Vietnam: English Teacher needed:
I intend to relocate to Vietnam from the US in February and am interested in a position teaching English. I have a BA in Education. Can you recommend the best institution to get a TESL from? Can it be obtained online? (I'm in the Seattle area.) Thanks very much.
Vietnam: What to expect around Tet:
Hi,
I am moving to Vietnam and my timing looks like it might be around late January or early February. I plan to travel around the country a little while before settling down, perhaps in Dalat. However, I don't know what to expect during Tet, which I understand falls on February 9 this year. For example, will I be able to get hotels and restaurant meals? Will public transportation be available? Would this be a good time to look for an apartment? Is there anything I should know about this time of year before I finalize the timing of my arrival?
Thanks
Vietnam: Long-term stay, with work:
I am a 60 year old male and plan to move to Vietnam for a year or more - maybe much longer. While there, I would like to have the option of working. I would look for a job after I settle down. I'm confused about the kind of visa I should get and how work permits work. Can someone help me understand and maybe recommend the best way to go about this? Thanks
Vietnam: How to understand Dongs in apartment ads:
When I see an ad for an apartment that says the price is 800 Dongs, does that really mean 800,000 Dongs per month? Here is an example: http://vietnam.craigslist.org/apa/5329970726.html
Thanks
