Australia: getting a permanent residency:
HI, my family and i are on a 457 visa,it has its restrictions in regards to were you can and cant live and what benefits you can claim. Regarding permanent residency you must live and work in the specified area for i think 2 years before you can apply for permanent .the original job which gave you the visa you dont need to stick to,you can work in any field just as long as you are working.I am sure you have lots of questions so e-mail at theblackamores@bigpond.com. we ourselves have only been here a short while but can give you some help. where are you settling, we are in a place called mandurah near perth and have a daughter aged 9, if we can help further contact us

Australia: advice needed:
there is a book which is brilliant for all kinds of information its called living and working in australia.it gives all kinds of web sites for ex pates, one it mentions is www.expatnetwork.com..I to are finding it difficult trying to obtain work prior to moving.but once there as long as you can obtain any work for 24 months out of the 36 you can go for permanent residency this was on of my worries.Lets face it you will do anything to keep the money coming in.
Australia: Starting the Visa Process:
Hi,have nearly completed my visa through a firm called ian harrop and associates tel-01707643785 e-mail sue@ianharrop.co.uk .Whilst this isnt cheap it is worth every penny. If they can get me in ( a plain old butcher) then its money well spent. The service is second to none, they do all the paper work and even tell you what to write. Its a great feeling to know youve been accepted and in the region of perth.I wish you all the best, but you wont need luck if you go through these they wont lead you up the garden path if they have any concerns, they have a nearly 100% success rate ,let me know how you get on
