Canada: language test for spouse under express entry:

Hi, We are planning to apply express entry to immigrate to canada. I am the main applicant and i am going to do language test (IELTS). Now we are confused , if my spouse has to take language test also and does it give us additional points or not? Please if somebody knows about this.
