Spain: Non-Spanish pension schemes:
I have a query relating to pension schemes for UK (and possibly other) expats resident and working in Spain. As you may be aware, while pension contributions can be deducted against IRFP (la Renta), the pension products available in Spain are not attractive particularly compared to those available in the UK (e.g. ISAs, SIPPs) or in the USA (e.g. IRAs, 401ks). This is because of high fees and limited range, but UK nationals resident in Spain are not eligible to contribute to these UK based products.
However I have been informed that it is still possible to obtain the Spanish IRPF pension contribution deduction if the contributions are made to a pension scheme in another EU country provided that the scheme is compliant with the EUROPEAN RULES 2003/41/ce EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT (SUPERVISION AND REGULATION OF PENSION PLANS). This arrangement is part of the EU strategy of free movement of services and labour .
My question is: does anyone know of the name of any countries and pension providers which will offer pension products to EU nationals resident in Spain? Many thanks!
Spain: 401k pension plans in Spain:
Hi
I am a US national resident in Spain and I and my wife are both set up as freelancers. We have recently set up individual 401ks though we are more interested in individual roth 401ks.
My queries relate to if / how wealth in 401ks - and the interest and dividends generated -- are taxable in Spain before one has retired. More specifically the questions are:
[1]Are individual 401k and / or roth individual 401k pension plans declarable in the modelo 720 (assets held abroad)?
[2]Are individual 401k and / or roth individual 401k pension plans declarable in patrimonio (wealth tax)?
[3]Are individual 401k and / or roth individual 401k pension plans income declarable in IRPF (income tax)?
If anyone has any experience of this they can share, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
