Dominica: Moving to Dominica:
Hi, I've been considering on moving to Dominica someday so I'm just going to give you some info that I remembered by hard.
As for internet and mobile phone I found the same thing you did, but look into your current phone service and see if you can use it overseas. If not or it'll be too high for you, then look at other cell phone providers (even these little known providers that uses the towers of a major provider) and see what you can come up with. Things like the internet may be considered a "luxury" item in Dominica so you might pay a higher price (just for a decent speed and probably data amount) than what you pay in the US. Sorry I couldn't help more on that.
As for the voltage, I can tell more about. They usually get their appliances from the UK due to the fact they use the same wall plug and voltage so if you bring US appliances you will need a voltage converter and a UK plug adaptor. Computers, (laptops and tablets but I'm not sure for desktops) and cell phones, are a few things that can high or low voltage but still check the cord for what voltage it can handle.
Since most if not all big appliances unfortunately is catered to the voltage for the US or wherever you can either do the following.....
1) Order from Amazon.com UK site and see if they ship to Dominica or (plus they give discounts on some if not most of their items) have them shipped to your current address. But of course you'll be stuck getting it to Dominica. You can check the US amazon site but at times buying from the UK site is cheaper than the US. Check the eBay sites too.
2) Find a legit region free/ multi-voltage online shop that caters to shipping overseas.
3)Wait and buy everything once you reach Dominica.
I think that's all I have for now. Good Luck! ?
