Some Forum Posts:

El Salvador: banks:

#1 is correct, there are no US/Canadian banks in SV, Citibank has no affiliation with the US Citibank nor is Scotiabank affiliated with the Canadian one. I have no experience with Banco ProAmerica but I previously had an account with https://www.bancoprocredit.com.sv all I needed was my Passport and an electric bill. Problem was they closed the branch in Puerto La Libertad and it was a PIA going either to Santa Tecla or Santa Elena to do my banking. I just opened an account this morning at https://www.fedecredito.com.sv in Puerto La Libertad with my passport, Delsur bill, NIT card and my Salvadoran drivers license, so I know for a fact that it can be done there also. NIT = tax number needed to make major purchases like car and property.

El Salvador: Needed docs for residence:

When you're at Migracion applying for your extension just ask for a list of the requirements for residency, they will gladly provide one. You can pm me for the contact info for my reasonably priced immigration lawyer who has offices in Condiminum Custalon

El Salvador: Where to live:

I love Playa San Diego as it is a quiet area off the tourist trail but close to everything, 10 minutes from Puerto La Libertad where one can find 98% of the things one needs. San Salvador shopping centres are only a 40-minute drive and the city centre an hour. The airport 1/2 hr away with very little traffic. Have lived here 6 yrs and Never felt unsafe, you hear a lot of BS about the area from people spreading unfounded rumours. Also although a car is handy one is not needed as there half hourly bus service to La Libertad for 25 cents where you can also connect to buses going to the city for 60 cents, the airport and other beaches. Taxi to La Libertad $5 to the city or airport $25. Anymore questions, ask away or PM me for my email.

El Salvador: Temporary Residence Visa Beyond Waiting:

I've never seen the Canadian government get anything done in under 3 months, 2 weeks is nothing. Chalk it up to a learning experience, do NOT leave the country when your visa is expired!

El Salvador: Moving to San Salvador:

There is a Facebook group Expats in El Salvador that has apartments advertised to rent and also ads for roommates There is also an online buy/sell/rent site OLX

El Salvador: Lost Passport in INDONESIA:

Contact your home country and ask them what countries embassy in the country you are in they have an agreement with.

El Salvador: moving to Santa Ana, need help.:

Technically you can only get 1 extension per year then you must leave for 72 hrs. However if you're going to do volunteer work for a NGO or religious organization let them look after the paper work as they get the rules bent for their people that a normal person has no hope of getting.

El Salvador: housing:

@pato23 ¿where´s the link?

El Salvador: Best Wages at Schools:

Also makes one wonder why a person with no experience teaching who doesn't even get their degree until Dec. thinks they will get top money for taking a job away from a person like fishinmars who is Salvadoran with years of experience teaching English?

El Salvador: Racist country:

Duh! Are you for real?
