Nicaragua: Matagalpa vs. Jinotepe:
OK. I am trying to trim this down. My top needs: A nice, clean one-bedroom house with an outdoor space for under $450. I have a cat. I need hi-speed internet and access to coffeehouses; I'm a writer. I'm 53 but I would like to explore the hiking and organic farming in this area. I would like to be able to take one week vacations to beaches, too, especially when friends visit. I like organic vegetables. I can trade English/Spanish lessons. I just want a walk-around town with some expats and some intellectuals/artists to hang out with. This is my last post if I don't hear anything real. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to go to Panama, which really isn't my scene. I like privacy, respect, and art. Also, I'm a big fan of music, mostly folk music but also classical and so forth.. Amber
Nicaragua: Granada or Leon?:
I'm not young (53), nor particularly vibrant but I don't like the look of San Juan del Sur with all the money-spending gringos looking to replace their life but for less money. Maybe I'm being harsh. I'm also not a surfer or a yoga master, so there's that. I'm looking for a place in Central America where there ARE English speakers but where the living is much more authentic to the culture. I have a small, regular income, and I'm a writer. I just want a reasonably nice little cottage/casita and some access to fresh vegetables/open markets and to have some interaction occasionally with others. It seems like Leon might fit me better? I do need wi-fi at least weekly, to post blogs, write email, and to download books. Really, I need it daily, but I'm trying to be reasonable. Also, I would like a coffeehouse.
