Bermuda: Buying furniture:

Recently landed in Bermuda and now faced with furnishing an empty house. Have looked around a few furniture stores and everything is clearly marked up massively from US prices. Found one sofa going for $2700 here which is available in the US for $700. I understand that there are import costs but that's ridiculous. So, I'm thinking about buying in the states and shipping over. Does anyone have any tips for shipping companies to use to get the stuff here?

Bermuda: Shipping companies:

We're looking at buying furniture in the US and shipping it to Bermuda. Does anyone know of any shipping brokers who will take delivery of the goods in the US and ship them on to Bermuda?

Bermuda: Moving with Infants:

My family and I are likely to be moving to Bermuda in the next few months. We have two young kids (3 and 1) and will be looking for schools and nursery for them. Any advice? The eldest currently attends a Montessori school - any thoughts on the Montessori school in Bermuda? Also, what would be a good area to live in with young kids? We're looking for somewhere close to parks/beach etc, where the kids can play. Thanks!

Bermuda: Salary versus cost of living:

I'm in the same position as you. I have the chance to move and am currently trying to negotiate salary etc but I have no idea what the 'norm' is over there. I have read about housing allowances, but also been told that no employer offers these. So much conflicting information, and it's impossible to make an informed decision!
