Belize: Expat Hangouts in San Ignacio, Placencia and Hopkins:
When we lived near SI, is San Iggy. We just walked around, and talked to everyone. Sometimes, you can sit, for hours talking about stuff. There are so many great places to hang out, with expats and locals. Everyone speaks English. Official language. We found a little place called pops, behind the post office. It has ac, that works most of the time. Only place! It's hot and humid. The booths are large, so invite people to sit with you. We had breakfast with several archeologist s, doctors, president of Belize, models, backpackers, ect. We had a blast! They're just people. There are many bars. Some are sad, dark. Most are open air. Visit them all. There are places that are on burnes, main drag. Some are on side streets. Check them out. One we liked is hodes, then, Maya walk. Maya walk is owned by our dear friend, Jimmy. Please tell him "Frankie and Ruthie", from USA say hello! Oh ya, at pops, try the fryjacks, fruit bowl, and a hamburger! If you should visit the capital, of Belmopan, eat a hamburger at Corkers! Wow! You won't forget it! We lived in the jungle, near As Jose succotz, for, only a year. I hope this helps you to have a great visit! We miss it, very m, but we can't go back, for a while.
Belize: medical insurance:
Anyone, from the USA, have cheap health insurance, just to keep the government off your back? I have federal insurance, but will be shopping for cheaper alternative. I kept my insurance, when we lived there in 2012. But, my husband did not. He paid a high fine, when we came back. NOT nice, at all. THIS time, we are NOT coming back! Thanks!
