Philippines: Auto Scams:
I am sure most of you are aware but just a heads up.
While searching for a vehicle on the web I have encountered two scams already and that is most likely the tip of the iceberg. All involve sellers being out of the country, cars being held by caretakers with delivery to your home after you have proved you have the funds via a MoneyGram receipt. Their quest is to not send the MoneyGram to them but to even your family member but as long as thee country is where they say they are residing. Problem is the do not need the transfer reference number to collect the funds.
I just spent an enjoyable two weeks scamming the scammer.
Be careful out there.
Philippines: E:
Used to live in Alaska so for me earthquakes are, shall we say, normal. I live in the Bicol region and have no issues...yet.
There are always a tons of reasons for not moving somewhere just as there are reasons for not doing everything. All depends on what you really want to do with your life. Worry all the time or enjoy life.
Philippines: Price of importing your own car:
My wife and I own property and the title in both of our names. Might not hold up in court and I have no expectations but this just shows that anything is possible. The title refers to me as an American citizen.
Philippines: Age of Consent Laws?:
It is not just your reputation on the line. Remember that!
Philippines: Solar Panels:
This topic might have already been opened but I can't see going through all the posts to find it.
Has anyone gone down the road of having solar panels installed and if so your perspective on how this has worked out for you.
Philippines: Traffic rules:
Returning into Sorsogon City early evening and was about to pass a Trike, following a single red taillight ahead. Well...the single red taillight was the headlight of an on-coming Trike. You just can't fix stupid!
Philippines: Why do we become Expats:
I was an Expat, mostly Middle East and Indonesia for over twenty years. Move back to the U.S. and after five years there, well enough is enough and I still ask folks what they did to the country while I was gone. Didn't miss it while I was gone and won't when I leave again.
Beyond that I a married to a lovely Filipina, she having spent 16 years in Dubai.
Maybe it is just that moving is in our blood or it could be that we all, as a group, understand there is so much more to life. When folks ask me about this move I always tell them how terrible it is and what a mistake I made. I am only hoping they don't catch on that I am only trying to keep the riff-raff where they belong and that life is GREAT!! All this said because I love the Philippines and only wish I had discovered it 40 years ago.
House will be completed in April and the shipping container will follow. For the time being I still get away from the U.S. as I rotate 28/28.
Philippines: Sorsogon:
