Bulgaria: UK vehicles 6 month limit:

Hello all, I've just been informed by two insurance companies that they will NOT insure a foreign plated vehicle. You have six months to put in an application to register your car here to receive your Bulgarian number plates. This also involves an MOT type test, after which your plates will be issued. I went to an English speaking insurer in Ruse, who arranged all documentation and a local to do the necessaries in the KAT office. All inclusive total was 700 leva. 200 ecotax 300 insurance (third party) Plus the registration fees, test fees and admin etc.. Now I'm sure I'd read somewhere that none of this was correct, So either the rules have changed or I had my facts wrong. Being as I've only been here six months, this was very timely info, . Bulgaria: New to the idea:

I've had a remarkably similar experience (and house :) by the sound of it) to brits Abroad, using the website http://m.cheap-bulgarian-house.co.uk/index.php Ive got nothing but praise for the service, and can honestly say that you are unlikely to meet a nicer bunch, even in Bulgaria, and that is saying something. I'm in the Ruse district, bang in the middle of Byala & Svistov, I've been here 3 weeks and I love it.

Bulgaria: Derelict building with no water or electricity:

Hello everyone, I'm intending to view an old derelict property without any services, is this normally a costly, long and bureaucratic nightmare to get phone,power and water? I don't know if there is a well or how far the nearest connection is. I'm a single man with carpentry skills and plenty of building experience to boot, I'm not afraid of a shovel and intend to start a self sustainable lifestyle on a very tight budget As much as I would love to go completely off the grid with solar power, it is cost prohibitive at the moment. I'm looking forward to a week of viewings starting Saturday29th January (hotel in Ruse) and intend to be driving a camper van & trailer over in March 2016 to start a new life of fruit vegetables & comedy translations Be nice to bump into anyone in Ruse, Silistra, Veliko Tarnovo or Shumen :) Thanks Neiall
