Norway: Family Reunification Process Questions about staying or leaving!:

Hello everyone. I have recently been married in Norway and applying for family reunification with my spouse. I have all my paperwork. Researched online, but came up with questions along the way and I would like to know more about the process so I can be better prepared for this experience. When I hand in my application here in Norway, the UDI website says it usually will take 6 months to process my application for family reunification. I find that concerning. However, the police and tax office are said that it should only take 2 weeks. If it so happens that it will take months, I was wondering if the officials will let me stay throughout the process since I am just here on a 90 day tourist visa. I was also told on the phone with the UDI people that there is a possibility that my passport will be taken. I also read on the internet that sometimes the process drags on and there is a possibility that I will have to be away from my spouse for long periods of time. Has anyone gone through this experience being married to a Norwegian citizen and applying for family reunification? If so, please enlighten me on the process and what to expect.
