Hungary: If The United Kingdom Leaves The EU:
No place is perfect, there are advantages and disadvantages in any country. About the politicians it's the same everywhere, they are all corrupt (some more than others). Actually in my opinion the politicians in the US are much more corrupt than here. Look at Bush for example, he went to war in Iraq just for money. War is good for weapons companies (the biggest conributors of Bush) and look at the amount the pentegon spent because of this war. Look at all the companies his vice president set up that got all those billion dollar contracts in Iraq from the government (Blackwater ex..).
They bassically looked for a reason to go to war in Iraq (where are all the weapons of mass destruction?!) for the sole purpose of robbing billions of dollars from the US tax payers. As I see it you can't be more corrupt than this. So, compare to them the Hungarian politicians are all saints.
After the US destroyed Iraq Obama decided to pull out. It created a vacum that created ISIS. So bassically by pulling out of Iraq after it was destroyed is what created ISIS. ISIS grew and invaded Syria and other parts in the middle east and it became a war zone...nobody wants to live in a war zone so lets move to Europe...it's close and all it takes is a short sail to greece. Thank the US politicians for making another huge mess.
In my opinion the situation in the US is going to be worse than in Europe because the new elected president is going to be even worse than Bush and Obama. You have someone like Trump (check Trump University on google) and Clinton who is worse in terms of corruption (getting millions of dollars for lectures... today you call it a lecture but in the past it used to be called bribe)....both will do so much damage to the US economy that you can not imagine. So the US is not going to be in a better shape the Europe in anything.
Hungary: Car checkups?:
I heard that every 2 years there are car checkups? is that correct?
If this is true what are they checking?
Thanks,
Hungary: Parking dangers in Budapest:
Think about it this way:
Since you do not pay any Prperty-Tax like in the US and Canada (thank God for that!) somtimes you get a fine. Since I came here almost 2 years ago I got only 1 fine (expensive one and really...). So this is my Prperty-Tax for 2 years and I learned my lesson, it won't happen again! I only park on parking lots and shopping malls, never enter the city center by car District-8 especially, 300 cameras only in this district looking for anything...even if you put garbage next to a trash can (because it is full) you will get a fine...as one neighbour told me. I live at the outskirts of the city and there are no cameras here, no parking meters...nothing (thank god for that!).
Generally speaking, compare to the US the crime rate (violent crimes) here is nothing. Just think about it, in the US any maniac can get a gun! in fact, in the US there are more guns than people.
Now there are elections...Obama was one of the worst presidents in US history and who is gona come next-Trump, Clinton, Cruse...suddenly Orban doesn't look that bad....
Hungary: Is this normal for a hungarian uni?:
The university is looking at forign students as a cash cow. You are paying a very high tuition and it is all about the money. If they could take your money and send you the degree in the mail without even seeing you they would do that (in some places it's possible). From what you are describing the university doesn't really care about your education but if you missed a tuition payment I bet they will care about that.
Hungary: Going to the doctors....:
So far did you pay anything?
My recomendation is to find another doctor. In any case don't go back to them, sounds like a Doctor Scam to me...it's a new scam and like other scams it was invented in Hungary.
Hungary: traffic fine:
I just recieved a registered letter from District 8 in Budapest with a 50,000 ft fine and I don't know for what. No policeman stopped me or even talked to me and the fine is NOT from the police. I never got a fine in Hungary before.I understand they need money, especially a district like district 8 which is probably the worst district in the city but to get a fine for not doing anything wrong?! is there anything I can do to fight this?
I think the fine is for traffic violation because the letter Highlights my car number. And I know it is not for parking because I only park in shopping malls.
Will appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
Hungary: Survey of the locals:
The economy is not good, but like in other countries the goverment "cook" the books/numbers to fit their interests.
If I were you I would consider other factors as well. When I moved here I got the feeling that most Hungarians really hate forigners but now I know that they really hate Humans. Like my Hungarian neighber told me when I asked him why they hate forigners so much.
Also take into considaration the birocracy. ex. A few months ago I got a letter from the district that there is some kind of problem with my residency and that I have 30 days to fix it or I can be prosecuted and fined.
I immidately went to the district office to find out what is wrong (I got the residency over a year ago). I got a number to that clerk and waited for about 2 hours. When it was my number I waited for another hour because it was his lunch brake. When it was finnaly my turn he asked to see my identity card. I handed over my Hungarian passport. That clerk almost cried, he looked at it trying to find a problem where there isn't one. After a few minutes he takes out my residency application and cross out with his pen my mothers name. Then asks me to write it again half an inch to the right because it wasn't written in the right place. I thought it was a joke so I loughed but he was serious. So I wrote my mothers name half an inch to the right and I made sure that it is in the "right" place. I can't believe that I wasted a day for this.
Take these things into consideration before you move. You don't want to find out you made a mistake before it is too late.
Hungary: cost one foreign student live with 150000 huf for month a normal style of life:
If I were you I'll take another 50,000 ft for unexpectted expenses. Like fines...they love it over here!!!
