El Salvador: Moving used household goods:
When I moved to El Salvador in 2010, I brought in a 40" Flat screen t.v., a Bose Wave Radio system, a video game system, and my dog. I paid a whopping $9.04 for bringing my dog in. However, the Customs agent helped me redo my form. I had listed everything as new. He changed it all to used. I also was moving there to get married and had my application for a fiance visa ready, so I'm not sure if that helped. But I brought the stuff in when I entered the country. Not sure if this is helpful to you, but I can tell you I was prepared to pay hundreds of dollars. I didn't even pay ten dollars.
El Salvador: Beachfront Property:
Panchimalca, you have to forgive Americans. We are ever the optomists! Anyone who has ever lived in El Salvador and LIVED AMONG Salvadorans knows there is a different understanding of El Salvador than what the Americans who hide away in American enclaves and delve into Latino culture, suddenly using words like themselves "gringos" thinking that makes them fit in, understands. El Salvador is dangerous PERIOD! Take that from someone who was rescued by the Salvadoran Police while living there and lived in the same denial. Someone who met gang members face-t0-face AND collaborators, who met a few silly Americans who thought they were living in La La land. And yes, my ex was Salvadoran. In fact he was from Colonia Ilopango, in Santa Lucia. I lived in Salvadoran colonias, all over not American enclaves. And as much b.s. as you want to put out there, I'd listen to the Guanaco. Because as much as you THINK you know...is as much as you likely DO NOT know.
El Salvador: Residency Requirements:
Most of what I brought to El Salvador, I later learned, could be purchased there. Yes, you pay much higher prices for the most part, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to do what I did.
