Morocco: Talk about your experience in Morocco:
Hi I am not quite an ex-pat (though am making plans for that this year) I do have family there and have been for visits & holidays often over the last few years, so any help I can give you would not be just from a tourist's viewpoint but as someone who actually lived in a normal house & went shopping locally etc. Let me know if interested.
Morocco: Ex-pats in Meknes?:
Moving to Meknes. Would love to meet/ socialise with other UK ex-pats, or other nationals who can speak good English too.
Morocco: Residency:
I came across this myself too. The UK Govt only states that a CRC (aka CRB) is required.( to show any criminal record/ civil offences etc.) It's called a "conviction history" held on the PCN which is the National database. (This is different from the CRB check that one has for employment or working with children / vunerable people). You can also get a local police record but this really only tells what contact you have had with the police locally ie: reporting a crime, making statements etc. I would imagine that the National CRC is what is required. I am going to ask the Moroccan Consulate in UK if they can elaborate ie give advice on what offences (if any) would cause refusal and/or if very old/historical offences would be overlooked.
Morocco: Price for maid/cleaning/cook:
In nearby Meknes you can get a p/t cleaner/cook easily. I would expect the same in Fez too. There are a lot of single Mums & widowed/divorced women looking for extra cash. Best ask your neighbours, or network around people you know / can communicate with. That way, they may be able to vouch for the trustworthiness of the applicant (very important of course). Pay for what you want is not high.. I reckon about 40 or 50 dirhams per session tops.
