Dear CCC Media, Yes, you are correct about what I was asking. I will file my U.S. taxes as usual with my accountant here. I had heard that Ecuador requires expats to pay income tax, but was not sure if bringing my own savings into the country is considered taxable income. Seems from what you're saying that it is not taxable. Thanks so much for your quick reply.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Professional Visa:

I applied for a professional visa using a Connecticut- Cuenca-based facilitator in November, 2015. I sent all my required documents - was originally told that it would take about 3 months. However, it's been a bit over a year and no results so far. My school was not on the Ministry approved list - nonetheless I was told that everything was moving along. The diploma itself may have been lost by the ministry, but I was told that the color xerox of it that was also included in the package had been accepted. Have been assured many times that it will be just a few more weeks. However, I cannot get any updated reliable info. I am planning to move to EC in April and will try to get the residential visa while in the country. Any suggestions?
