Nicaragua: Land purchase advice:
Hi all, my wife and I are in negotiations to buy some land in the Granada area. This is being dealt with for us by a local agent. The agent is talking to the landowner who initially requested the 10% deposit be paid directly to him as he did not trust us. Of course we said no way. The agents have come back to us and suggested that to complete the sale we could skip the promise of sale and head straight to closing. We just pay over the full amount once everything is lined up and 100% approved and ready at time of signature the full amount will be sent to the agent who will disperse to the seller. My worry is as we are not there but have given PoA to a trusted friend will this be secure and what about all the legal fees, searches etc that we have to pay out first could this be for nothing if the owner walks away, this may all just be empty fears but I would like the forums opinion anyway to put our minds at rest. Thank you.

Please guys, I'm not taking sides, I'm just asking, going forward, for the benefit of all who read this blog that you can somehow move forward. Life is too short for so much negativity..
Nicaragua: Builders Quotes:
Hi
I recently contacted three builders for a property renovation in the Granada area. My wife and I are planning to complete the renovations and rent the property out before moving to Nicaragua permanently in a couple of years. There will be many future questions I'd like to ask but the first is;
I wanted to know if it was the norm for builders to charge for quotes, as it is not here in the UK, and if so was $200 a price you would expect? If this is too vague, I apologise, if more information is required I will be happy to supply all I have.

Costa Rica: Visit Atenas/Grecia:
Hi All,
First time here. My wife are going to be making a few trips to The Central Vally area, and other areas, of Costa Rica with a view to making a permanent move from the UK. WE are staying in Atenas area between May 11th-18th 2016 and would very much like to meet up with some expats who have made the move already to get some tips and information while we are there. We are both in our late 40's and having traveled to many places feel that Costa Rica or Panama would be a good fit for us. If anyone is able to meet up or offer any advice as to what we should do/see while staying there to aid us in our research, we would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
Rocky
