Guatemala: Custom glass:

Hi all, Does anybody know where I can get glass custom made in Antigua or the city for a good price? Hopefully they deliver because I don't have a car here. Thanks!

Guatemala: What things should I bring?:

Hi Anna, I just moved here myself. Surprisingly, you can find a lot of goods here from back in the U.S. La Bodegona has a tiny section of natural grocery (kombucha included)! There is also a natural food store, Organica, that has a nice selection, albeit VERY pricey. As for peanut butter, it can be hard to find. I saw it once at Bodegona, but worse comes to worse, you make your own with one of those manual corn mills. Don't worry about cosmetics. I was at first, too, but Bodegona and the local Mercado has plenty of options! Welcome and let us know if you want to meet up at any point!

Guatemala: Pet Supplies:

Hi everybody, Where can I find pet supplies (chews, treats, toys, etc) in Antigua? Are they sold at La Bodegona or Dispensa Familiar? We're not looking for food as we will be making our own. Thanks!

Guatemala: Safest areas of Antigua:

Hi all, We have an opportunity to rent a house in southwest Antigua (about 4 blocks south of El Mercado). How is that areas for US citizens to live in? Are there areas that we should definitely avoid? Thanks!

Guatemala: Where to buy power tools?:

Hi all, I might be in need of some power tools (circular saw, miter saw, angle grinder, etc). Is there a local Antigua store that sells these and other tools/hardware? Thanks!

Guatemala: Cost of Living:

Hi Expat Community! I am moving to Antigua in July for a job. Quick question about the cost of living vs. my salary. If I have approximately $1,000 AFTER rent, will that be enough for two people to live off of in Antigua? After rent, how much do two people really need? Thank you!

Guatemala: Temporary Residence:

Hi all, I accepted a job offer in Antigua and my girlfriend will be coming with me. We will be there for 2 years. We are trying to avoid the "perpetual tourist" thing for her. I am very confused as to what the requirements are for a temporary residence for her. Can someone please give some insight as to how this works and what is needed. She is looking to be self employed with US based income and customers. Thank you!

Guatemala: Work Visa Policies:

Hi all, I received a job offer to teach at an international school in Antigua starting in August. My girlfriend and two dogs will be coming with me. I am looking for information about tourist and/or work visa for my girlfriend during our two years there. She plans to be self-employed either through Etsy or her own online business that she is in the process of building. I've read things about perpetual stays on tourist visas, but you shouldn't be working on those. I've also heard that you need a job offer letter to get a work visa. Someone please help! I am a bit concerned on how to go about doing this. Thank you!
