Ireland: Left hand drive automatic car:

We are returning Irish citizens who are planning on buying an automatic left hand drive car if possible as we want to spend a few months driving around Europe. Has anyone done this or even suggestions on buying an automatic car left hand drive or right would be greatly appreciated. Any hints or leads on obtaing car insurance? We both have USA driving licenses.Thanks

Italy: 183 days Rule:

Could someone clarify the tax implications in regard to the 183 day rule for ? Here is our situation. We are retired and are dual Irish and American citizens currently residing in the USA. We are planning on retiring to Italy but before that we are planning on spending 2 months in Ireland from Mar to May and then 2 months in France from May to middle of July. We plan to enter Italy after July 15th as we would have satisfied the < 183 days in Italy for tax purposes. Could someone clarify if entering any other European country for example( Ireland in Mar) would count towards the 183 day rule or are we correct in our plan.

Do you know if the income requirements are the same for EU citizens applying for healthcare and going to live in Italy as a resident. Your posts are terrific by the way.Thanks for sharing

We would like to travel around Europe when we move to Italy as you are planning to do,makes sense for tax purposes not to stay longer than 183 days in one place. However may I ask how and where you bought your car as I thought you had to be an Italian resident to buy a car and therefore would you still be subject to Italian taxes in the year you were travelling? Italy: Icome required to retire to Italy as an EU citizen:

I am both an EU citizen from Ireland and a US citizen currently living in the USA. Myself and my husband who has the same status as me want to retire to Italy at the end of 2016. I know that we will have Dual taxation and will pay to Italy first but what are the income requirements if any to actually move and start a life in income. Is there a certain amount of Euros required or is that not the case because we are EU citizens. I would appreciate any thoughts or links to get clarification.
