Some Forum Posts:

Panama: Trustworthy Real Estate Agent(s):

Hi! You can trust Mrs Tetzel Rios, in Coronado. She is very nice, very efficient and knows her job well. Her email: tetzel@condo-4u.com tetzelagente@gmail.com Regards, Michel TASTET

Panama: Bookstores somewhere?:

Does anyone know where to find a decent bookstore in PTY or, still better, in or around Coronado? Many thanks:

Panama: Arra Hijan:

The right spelling is Arraijan, which, according to what is said, comes from a twisting of the english words "at right hand" ( the new town at the time of the canal construction was named in this way when US engineers used to say it was the first village "at right hand ".after the canal). Nowadays, it is considered being a relatively dangerous area , poorly advisable to a "gringo"...

Panama: Resident agent?:

Can someone tell me whether, as the director and owner of an offshore company, I still need to pay my attorney for being the resident agent? I must add I recently got my permanent resident card, along with the cedula, even if I still live in Switzerland. Many thanks in advance for your contribution.

Greece: Taxes in Greece:

I am thinking of retiring to Greece within a few years, but as a Swiss national , I wonder what kind of taxation is applied to foreign income or pensions (I mean: all revenues earned out of Greece). Someone can give me insight about this topic? Many thanks in advance.

Panama: Mortgage in Panama?:

I am Swiss and I am preparing to retire within a few years, possibly in Panama, where I would like to buy an apartment in the Coronado area. The problem is that, right now, I can't get any loan from the banks (Multibank and Scotiabank) despite all the guarantees I can provide (monthly income in the 12,000 USD, at least 30% of own funds, "cedula" in progress after creation of an off-shore company, aso...). Somebody has an explanation for such an attitude? Or, still better, any recommendation for a bank more "gentle" with foreigners?

Panama: All Ready to move to Coronado....:

To coronadochris: I am French, 63 yo, and I am planning to retire within a few years in Coronado. How may I meet other expats in this area? Is there any club, association,... to meet people? I arrive tomorrow and will stay a fortnight to get my Friendly Country visa. Many thanks in advance for your reply and advice.

Panama: FATCA Law:

@volcan357: it backfires already, and how! I have been living in Switzerland for almost 10 years, have had always excellent relationships with the two banks I use to work with, and although I am French, when I recently applied for a professional loan, I was compelled to fill out forms to declare I was not US citizen, had no ties whatsoever with Uncle Sam, aso... Some of my US friends here have faced great difficulties to keep their swiss accounts.

Panama: Anybody teaching English?:

Btw, I am French and I'll soon get a FN visa. Do you think offering French lessons to English-speaking expats or Spanish-speaking Panamenians would be possible ? I think of that as a simple means to spend cleverly some of my time off when I retire for good!

Panama: expats in PC:

Volcan 357, you're absolutely right about PC. As a European thinking of retiring to Panama, and after studying closely many options, I finally can't see any advantage in living in PC: pollution, traffic, cost of life... and nothing of what big cities like Paris, London, New York,aso... have to offer to counterbalance those drawbacks (cultural life , historic legacy, aso...)
