Colombia: For a 90-180 day trip what would you absolutely bring to COL:
There are many things I can buy there so not really interested in bringing more than I need. Your suggestions?
Colombia: rent a furnished room or live with a family.:
Please give me your suggestions on renting a furnished room or staying with a family in a high end area for 90-180 days. Thank you.
Colombia: Swim, bike, run and rent a durnished room or live with a family.:
Over 30 years ago I lived in Bogota and Cali while teaching. Lived with locals, usually in the high end areas, with room and board. Raced bicycles back then in COL. Now thinking of returning and my past times are swim, bike, run and the gym. Also rest, pray and read but that does not require much. Fluent in Spanish. Retired and have enough for the pension visa. DWM. Where to go in COL and your thoughts. Thank you.

cccmedia, your last paragraph on returning due to medical reason has hit home. A Polish friend who had been in the States for years had a stroke and lost her ability to speak English when she came out of it.
She is recovering but her native language is what she slips back to as needed.
They were also pretty frustrated with the health care here with several friends who are nurses trying to advocate for her. The insurance companies here are often in charge of the protocols that are followed so that can be frustrating. It felt slow moving and hard to get answers in English too.
Her situation did have me wondering what it would be like if I were abroad or here.
Fortunately she was so well loved that she had an extensive support network and a live in boyfriend who passed as her husband and caregiver since she had no other family in country.
