Mexico: Advice about Riviera Maya:
Hello! I moved to Mazatlan, MX 6 months ago and love it, except for ...
1. I rented a condo for a year without knowing some of the condo owners have a lawsuit against the builder.
2. Due to construction problems, the building is quite noisy (I can hear my upstairs and nextdoor neighbors walking, etc.).
3. The area is a little unsafe at night due to unfinished buildings that are occupied by homeless guys who are also noisy.
4. I thought I could get by without a car but that was wrong.
Other than that, I'm enjoying cheap living expenses and good people in a beautiful city!
Mexico: Anti-Amer.sentiment in the Riviera Maya:
Thank you for your welcomed and much-needed post on this topic. I am temporarily residing in Mazatlan, Mexico where I have witnessed American ex-pats openly toast Trump's illegal "victory" in a restaurant and vehemently defend him in many settings. How insulting! I have asked American and Canadian Trump supporters why they would want to even visit (and in most cases live) in a country full of what Donald Duck (sorry D. Duck) describes as "murderers and rapists"? Of course, due to their level of intelligence, they were not able to generate a response.
Mexico: Seeking Visa Info:
I have discovered different Visa requirements posted by 4 of the Mexican Consulate offices in the greater Los Angeles area. A rep. in the Oxnard, CA office also told me that I have to apply for a temporary Visa in the U.S. and then apply for the permanent Visa in Mexico. Two of the Consulate websites ask for a "letter of intent" as well as a criminal records clearance and fingerprints. Please respond with tips to speed the Visa application process. Thanks.
Mexico: Relocating from US:
FYI: I just read on a Mexico site that if you have a Japanese model car with a "J" in the VIN, you can't register it in Mexico! If this applies to your car, you should verify this information.
Mexico: Best City For Me?:
You're wise for a 22-year-old. I've recently retired and leaving the U.S. to get away from the trick-bag political system. I've visited Maztlan twice and I'm returning in April to look for a rental. It's only a 2-hour flight from Los Angeles and I think it's a great city.
Mexico: Mazatlan Rentals:
Interested in renting a condo in Maztlan for the long-term. Seeking names of trusted realtors as well as info on what charges to expect (e.g., HOA fees, utilities, etc.)
