I think you should take several aspects into consideration before having your own decision. First, general cost of living in Vietnam is just around 5-7 million dong/month. That means money is not an obstacle for you. Secondly, in terms of security, I highly recommend you to live in Vietnam. Its somehow more safe and peaceful than in Thailand.
