Jose & Rita, Interested in your post. I live in Connecticut but originally from Syracuse. I can understand anyone wanting to leave, esp for the winter although not as bad now as years ago. How did you choose Cascais? I visited the Algarve last month and liked it but perhaps not as cultural as Cascais. Did you find it fairly easy to make friends? What are the winters like? Lisa

Hi Gary, I was in Tavira a couple weeks ago, really loved it and plan to return after summer and rent an apartment for a longer stay and see how I like it. Any tips you can tell me about Tavira? I met some cool people at Pessua and around. Too bad I didn't see your post...Any other places you recommend to connect with people? Or tips on renting? If I like it, I would like to buy a townhouse. How is the winter? I currently live in Connecticut so I am sure it is much better in Tavira! Lisa
