Portugal: Buying Process:

Hi everyone We have sold our house ready to move to Portugal. Please can you give us some idea of the percentage you should knock off the asking price when buying a property. Is it like the UK? Say about 10 % ?

Portugal: Land Grab Scare:

Hi everyone there was a thing in uk newspapers about the Portugese government preparing to take land and properties on the coasts to save the coastline or save it for development for tourism? It would be compulsive and probably no compensation given. It seems to have gone away now does anyone have an update? We are interested in buying on the Algarve and do not want to risk our life savings.

Hi everyone we are two brits hoping to retire in Portugal soon. Starting by renting. We are looking at Central Portugal Beja or Tomar and that area. We love Portugese history and fancy buying near a large town or city that reflects this. But we want it outside the busy area if we can. Any recommendations for semi rural areas? Thanks Mojo52

Portugal: Civil or local government pension:

Several folk have told us it is impossible to transfer government pensions for the tax deal Portugal offers as the uk government just dosnt do it. Yet private pensions are ok. Anyone managed to get round this at all?
