I am living in Toronto, Canada and want to move to Venezuela. I am retired and do not need a job in Venezuela. Obviously I studied extensively Venezuela on the Internet. However, there are many things which can be answered only by the people who lived them. First question: the town of Merida in Los Andes seems to me to a real good choice. True ? Second question: Which is the general climate for business and investments ? I have no interest in real estate and am familiar with the Bolsa de Valores of Caracas. E. g. can you invest in microcredit ? Third question: How friendly are the people there ? I just do not want to become involved in politics and political debates. Much preferred are Los Andes and the beaches on the Caribbean. Fourt question: What about the town of San Cristobal ? Thank you for your answers.

Hola Junglebeach, I am a Canadian, living in Toronto. Now I am retired and would like to move to Brazil. Reading some books, it looks like the most developed areas in Brazil are the Southern states of Santa Catarina, Rio Grande del Sul and Parana. My choice was the town of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina. Could you, please, provide me with some details such as: What is the general quality of life in Florianopolis ? What are some business opportunities there, excluding real estate ? My expertise is in accounting and investments. Anything else that you consider mentioning ? By the way. I am taking Spanish classes. Is Portuguese so different from Spanish ? Thanks for your answer.

Hi brastras, I just posted a few minutes ago a few questions to junglebeach, Thread Expat.Owned. I am a retired Canadian and would like to move to Florianopolis. Obviously I do not need a job in Brazil but some business could help to keep me active. Extra to the questions adressed to junglebeach I would like to ask you: my wife is a dentist, with Canadian licence and practising in Toronto. Could she buy a dental office and/or work as a dentist in Florianopolis ? Thank you for your answer.
