Peru: Lake Titicaca:

Lake titicaca is somewhat poluted but it has been cleaned up some as well as many current projects to improve the water. Fishing is great! boating is fantastic. ask people that live there or near there. dont take words from someone that lives 20 hrs away! i live in Puno right next to the lake.

Peru: Info:

I also have never ran into this issue. you can cross the border in many places by bus, walking etc. so why bother. besides if you over extend its only 1 dollar a day for your over extention

Peru: Visit:

lima, upper north. south is best

Peru: Arequipa cost of living:

While it is true that Lima is very troubled with crime and surco seems to be one of the more troubled areas Arequipa is not in the top 3 crime cities of Peru. We live part time in the city and find it quite enjoyable as well as very little crime. of the 5 citis it is true that some have issues. if you look at size I guess most cities have issues. go visit dont take some ones word. Check it out for your self. costs are very reasonable. Paul

Peru: Property in Peru:

as p has said, it is very easy for squatters to take over your property as well as get official title. best to get a lawyer an search the records for the present owner. especially for any high value properties.

Peru: It seems to be very easy to become a resident in Peru:

there are now quite a few ways of becoming a resident these days. 1. you can now retire to peru, you can obtain residency if you have a thousand dollars monthly verified income per month. however you can not work. 2. you can marry a Peruvian person 3. you can be a skilled worker an have a job, again with a thousand dollar income. 4, you can start a business, again with a thousand dollar income varified. but you have to have 1 peruvian employee minium. after being a resident for 2 years you are allowed to apply for citizenship in Peru. I married, but could qualify for any of the programs. the best method is to get a lawyer and have them cover all your bases.

Peru: Looking for Apartment:

that is a challange. however you could be in luck if you were willing to commute a bit. there are many oppertunities in Villa el salavdor. the bus is cheap and the apartments are in good shape an crime is low.

Peru: Healthcare:

there are many advantages to this area as well as also issues. we looked hard at the area and decided to pass the area as we will still be working. the area is a bit wild if you know what i mean, if not then you need to ask some of the locals before trying to put down roots.

Peru: Community:

Please bear in mind what people ask or tell you. there are people that say they are in one place but of course are in another! lima is very different lately and there are many many problems, from gang activities to roberys, to drive by killings. places that were safe a year ago are not now. this includes Lima and the surrounding subburbs!!!. also trujillo. anyone that says there isnt crime is not telling you the truth. dont give out where you are going or living or visiting to please that you personally know!!! also people that you alias in there communications are suspect. just a warning to be safe then sorry

Peru: Cheap rent???:

Depends on what city you plan on living in. lima subs about 175.00 dollars a month or so, puno maybe 100.00 usd
