France: Moving from Glasgow to France:

I am currently in Australia where i met my french girlfriend and i will be moving to France with her in September. I will be returning home to Scotland soon to prepare for moving, i was looking for information on the best way to go about learning the language and finding work when i arrive. The thought of moving to a non english speaking country terrifies me and it would be great to hear back from anyone that didnt speak the language when they arrived in France. I will be taking french lessons when i go back to Scotland to try and prepare myself.
