Divorced mom of 5 kids ages 9-29. Prior service (Army) 2 years and then 12 more years as an Army wife. I still get antsy to move (PCS) every 18 months or so. I miss the military lifestyle! My life revolves around kids, family and food. Love to cook and make my home a welcoming place. My perfect job would be owning a boarding house/ bed and breakfast / or hostel with a bakery on the side.

Chile: Language:

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how they learned the language? Of course I am assuming that you are not a native speaker. Did you use a tutor or a computer program or did you learn from books? I took Spanish in high school many moons ago, and lived in a Spanish speaking country 20 years ago; needless to say I am incredibly rusty. I am on a five-year countdown to the big move. However, I do plan on visiting next year.

Chile: 5 year plan:

I am on a 5 year countdown until I make the big move to Chile. I need to work for 5 more years and get the last kid out of the house before I am FINALLY free to follow my dream. I'd leave now, but my ex won't let me take the kids out of the country. I lived in Panama many years ago for 3 years. My adult daughter visits Santiago often and has me completely sold on the idea of making the move. I plan on visiting next year to scope out potential living situations. So, I am on this board regularly just to see what's happening. Thanks to all who post up to date observations and information.
